she's crafty...and she's just my type

etsy shop unveiling

Hey, blog! Look at this!

Ruby Sparrow - my Etsy shop!

I finally decided to open this up to the public, if you will. It's been up for a month or so, and I've held off on promoting it much because I wanted to add some more things, but I thought, eh, might as well show off what I have now. I'm hoping to add some more things - more flower pins, some bracelet/cuff things, embroidered tea towels, more onesies - in the next couple weeks. I've sold one item already, which was a great experience. It's nice to make things for people, especially when they pay you cash money.

Enjoy! Buy things! haha.

What up?

Okay, okay. So I didn't post anything yesterday. But! I did finish hand one of Fetching. Behold:

The only quibble I might have with the pattern is that the picot-edge bind off is a little weird. I'm not sure that I like the effect it gives Next pair I might skip that. But otherwise, they're turning out great. Now I gotta dig up the motivation to start the other one!

I also made an excellent shrimp, avacado and spinach salad with lime vinaigrette this week. Deliciousness!

Recipe can be found here!

And now, off to the beach!!

Delila the Wonder Cat

Hi blog!

Goodness, I've been neglectful in writing. Things have been slightly busy lately - we've had lots of out-of-town visitors and have been doing the touristy thing, I've been getting things together for classes starting back, and we're planning a mini-vacation to the beach. Oh, and I FINALLY GOT A JOB. Hooray!! Such good news, and it helps with tuition too. Whew. Things were looking a little dire there, finance-wise.

So, to celebrate, here are some photos of what my cat Delila has been up to lately:

Oh, she's so cute! I could just squeeze her little cheeks!

As far as craftiness, Ms Marigold is juuuuuuust about done. I have to finish the last sleeve. Why is the last 10% of a project always the hardest?!? I've also finished one hand warmer from Knitty's Fetching pattern. It's lovely, and a great pattern to follow. Pictures tommorow before I run off to the beach, I promise! Haha promising to post photos will force me to actually finish them.

etsy things + hilarity

Hola blog,

I finished and/or photographed some more Etsy-shop-related things today.

A little apple blossom embroidered onesie...I am kind of in love with this one.

One of several flower pins I've made. These are so fun to make!

Crafty craft craft. In other news, I have been heartily amused and entertained by these links, and hopefully you will be too:

Okay, time for a lunch break and What Not to Wear.

Ms Marigold in progress

Here's my latest update on Ms Marigold. It's going really well! I'm about to start on the ribbing at the bottom, and then I need to procure some size 3 circulars to finish the neckline. The only problem I ran into was when you join to knit in the round, cause by a momentary loss of brain function....I read "CO 10 stitches" as cast off 10 stitches when obviously it was cast ON. Uh, yeah. I felt real smart when I figured that one out!

Anyway, here she is:

Hey blog.

I've been on the crafty tip lately, because I sort of have the idea of setting up a little Etsy shop. I've been working on some things for it, and making up the banner and all that, but I'm not entirely sure that what I'm making will sell. Hmmm. But right now, I don't have much else to do as far as making money, so I might as well!

crochet flowers

That's pretty much what I've been up to this week, and I have some other things finished, too. I always used to have these little schemes when I was a kid about how to make money - selling Kool Aid at my mom's yard sale, starting a dog-walking business, founding a Babysitter's Club knockoff - that never quite panned out. Except for the Kool Aid. And this sort of feels like that all over again, in some ways.

But we'll see! Perhaps I will become the world's first flower-crocheting millionaire.
